The Saginaw County Health Department is seeking an energetic, compassionate, and community-minded Community Health Educator to support the Community Outreach and Resource Exchange (CORE) Office and the Community Information Exchange (CIE) initiative.

This temporary contract position offers an exciting opportunity to gain valuable public health experience while contributing to innovative community health initiatives through September 30, 2026.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with the public, building community partnerships, and helping residents connect with the health and community resources they need to thrive. Every day offers the opportunity to educate, empower, and improve the health of Saginaw County residents.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide scheduled coverage in the CORE Office (Room 312), assisting residents with health education, basic health screenings, resource navigation, referrals, and enrollment in the Community Information Exchange (CIE).
  • Represent the Health Department at community outreach events, health fairs, and educational programs throughout Saginaw County.
  • Support CORE clinics at Jerome School by providing health education, resource navigation, participant assistance, and follow-up.
  • Collaborate with community organizations and partner agencies to connect residents with health and social service resources.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, referral records, activity logs, and other required program documentation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of Community Health Division initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Education, Community Health, Health Promotion, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Experience in health education, community outreach, resource navigation, public health, or human services preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid Michigan driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel throughout Saginaw County.
